As far as I can tell, those sturdy plastic lines aren't even touched if you use open-ended wrenches to remove the banjo fitting; not like when I nicked them with channel-lock pliers in an emergengy roadside affair. [long, long, long, long story]
My momentary switch for the starter comes out of a bus junkyard; it weighs a few ounces and has a simple and servicable design: heavy button, to spring, to soft washer, to two contacts through insulation and multiple locking nuts for the leads. It's installed just under where the handbrake lever rests, encouragement to use it every time you park so the switch is more accessible.
As for the wiring, I didn't do it myself (my father's the electrical engineer, so he gets the honors) but I would imagine it's wired between +30 (constant from battery) and +50 (starter circuit). You could wire it to the others so the switch is live only with the ignition circuit, but this way you can crank the engine in 'park/accessory' position for things like compression tests and what not. Whatever the pin #'s, knowing my dad, I'm sure they're the thickest wires into the ign'n switch.
Good luck.
Adam
