We replaced it with a manual transmission which is a lot easier to do in a Saab than a Volvo. However, what you read here is all about problems. The saabnet.com bulletin boards are about 99% problem solving... Very few people write a post that sounds like this:
"Everthing's running fine - no problems to report."
They come here to find solutions to a problem when they do crop up and with 252,000+ monthly visitors, there's relatively light problem traffic as it is.
That said, while reliable, I believe you've got a point with C900 automatics, but if you go to a Saab Owner's Convention and talk to the techs who know these cars inside out (like Dennis Sweeney), they'll tell you a C900 automatic can outperform a manual?!? And then they'll tell you why.
