After market knock sensor ?

I've got a 1980 turbo that uses the simple mechanical wastegate system to regulate boost. Apparently boost needs to be set lower than otherwise necessary to insure that knock doesn't hurt the motor.
Would it be possible have an after market knock sensor with an audible warning to the driver who protects the motor by backing off the accelerator?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
(I work with this car instead of a newer one because it's a 5 door, it's cherry and I've owned it for 23 years.)
