Ari's post almost answers my questions regarding my '87 900 except that my alternator (the fourth one BTW) is apparently not wired correctly and the wires and connectors are cut. The green wire coming from the coil was spliced into the black ground coming off the bolt that holds the alt. body together. I gather that this green wire is the infamous BATT light wire? Should it go to the lug (which lug?) or via spade connector into the slot on the back of the alt.? Should the alternator have two grounds? Mine has only the one, currently spliced into the green wire. Help!
