Hi Terry,
Here is a plan that I would consider on a budget.
10" enclosed sub w/amp--------------------------- 20-120HZ
4" cones in stock front locations---------------------90-20,000+Hz
4" cones on rear door panels--------------------------90-20,000+HZ
_________________________________________________________________
Notice that the sub and the speakers will/should crossover one another
in most cases, covering the entire frequency range from 20-20,000HZ
You could upgrade to 4" component set in the front as well as the rear for crisper highs. I've also heard great things about the Infinity BassLink where if you aren't looking to loosen lugnuts, is a very tight subwoofer/amp combo for the money.
I would avoid cutting into the rear deck at all costs as I find the rear deck to be quite useful. I also find it handy to be able to lay it down flat on the lower floor boards and load items that require clearance. With speakers in the rear deck, you would would have to remove the entire deck board and find a safe place for it not to mention disconnecting your speakers. I would also avoid speakers that aren't in the shape of a perfect circle. (i.e.: 6x9's)
Just my $0.02 -Steve
