Just need to get yourself into the right mode. Pressure wash first if it's oily down there.
There's a procedure for doing this on the Townsendimports web site.
The main thing you need is a cut-down socket to be shallow enough to go on the crank bolt head and leave room for a breaker bar or socket wrench between that and the firewall.
If it's an older car that would be 30 mm or 1 3/16"; if newer ('90 or '91? I think) it would be 27 mm or 1 1/16". You need to cut about half an inch off it - - I used a Sawzall and suggest making a file nick at the point where you want to cut so the blade won't skate all over the place.
You have to pull all your belts and also undo the 3 bolts that hold the third pulley - - plated sheet metal - - onto the face of the crank pulley (forged steel) to get room to get in there.
My experiences are posted on here in an Aug. 8 entry called "Oil pump cover seal job - - Socket size 1 3/16"."
There was just a narrow way across between rack, its lines, and shifter shaft to catch the end of the ratchet with a bent conduit "cheater" but then I used Townsend's trick of letting starter motor break the crank bolt free.
Definitely don't remove the rack to get at it, unless you need a new rack anyway.
You could also see my "poor man's crank pulley fix" posting for a way around spending for a new pulley.
I think it's possible some of the squealing people report could come from the rubber bulging out the back side of the crank pulley and rubbing on the oil pump cover. Trim it off with a razor blade if that's going on.
