Put them on my '85 3yrs ago. These are the only aftermarkets I've tried, so can't compare except to stock. They do need FAR more damping than either stock or spg-spec shocks provide - will bounce all over hell. Now have them with Koni shocks (thanks GM) set mid or full hard and the ride is superb if firm and no roll. Had also trouble with tires thereafter, because my Nokian NRV sidewalls are so dang soft the car was bouncy from that alone - when put the old Firehawk tires on and add a few psi, ride is spot on now. I can't comment on whether this much diddling is needed with other aftermarket springs, but anyway now you know ahead of time. Ride height: never measured. It took the sloppy gap out from the front wheel well, but otherwise not obviously a lowered-car look. When you lean over the engine bay, she hits you at a different part of the thigh which after almost 30yrs of the same saab ride height, was kinda funny.
