If you have to drive the car just put the seats back in. I can almost guarantee you that you will wash and dry the carpets, get everything put back together nice and neat only to find wet carpets after the first rain. I know this because I "thought" I had solved my leak on at least 2 seperate occassions only to have this happen. It aint no fun!
I posted a reply to your first post a couple of weeks ago saying to check all of the drains. Do that first. After you are sure those are clean and clear, put a nozzleless garden hose on the car in different spots to see what happens....soak it good then get inside and check for water. That is the only way to find a leak.
One place that was allowing water into my convert was the area underneath the rear seat, where the trailing suspension arm mounts to the body...sounds crazy but keep reading. If you take the rear interior panel off to look at how the water is supposed to drain after passing throught the lower corner of the rear window where it meets the top you will understand better what I'm going to tell you but....that's more work so just take my word for it.
What I found was that on the bracket that holds an electrical connector just above the trailing arm mount, there should be a welded seam that runs it's entire length. Mine didn't and if water flowed just right it would seep through that seam and collect under the top hydraulic fluid resevoir. I also found that if water didn't completely drain from the lower body drain it would seep through a small seam on the bracket that is welded to the body where the trailing arm mounting bolts pass into the body....kind of a capillary action thing....I watched it collect under the fluid resevoir 3 times after drying that area. Now I park on an incline and water would collect under that resevoir and as soon as my car was level, it would soak the rear passenger footwell and run up the u shaped channel that runs along the outer floor pan to also soak my front passenger footwell.
Sounds complicated but I thought I would share with you because it took me a lot of experimenting to find this after I could not figure how my car would still get wet even with all the drains cleaned.
Solution....some black gasket making goo from the autoparts store around all of the leaking seams that I mentioned and the car is dry after our recent monsoon season here in the Northeast.
Hope that helps.
