I've had this prob repeatedly on my '90 spg. To fix it permanently I used the procedure the factory engineers used on the older turbos; If you look on the throttle body, about 1.5 inches back from the forward edge, at the 9 oclock position, there is a metal boss that has been drilled out, but not tapped. Tap the hole for 10 mm/1.8 (the same as all the other 10 mm bolts on the car). Get a piece of rigid metal about 1/2 in wide, 1/16 thick, & 4 inches long. Drill a hole at one end to accept the 10 mm bolt. Slide the other end under the forward boot clamp (with the boot tightly in place, bolt the end to the throttle body, mark the forward part of the strap at the forward edge of the clamp. Put a tight bend at that point so the clamp will put pressure on the bend. Tighten everything up.
No more blow off.
