Master cylinder - rebuild or replace? Posted by Camm [Email] (#191) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Camm) on Sun, 30 Oct 2005 16:07:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Car is an 83T. Symptoms are intermittent "no pedal" (with corresponding 'no brakes') and spongy weak brakes when working... I tried bleeding the system this afternoon and succeeded in making it worse! My options are: MC rebuild kit (cheap, from site sponsor), new MC w/ reservoir (not particularly cheap, even from site sponsor) or rebuild stand alone MC from NAPA (kinda cheap). Has anyone had success with the MC rebuild kit, or are the bores of most 'bad' MC's too shot to re-do? (FWIW I have, in gross disregard of board opinion, rebuilt a few C900 clutch SC's and had them work great) I'm leaning toward the cheapo NAPA unit, anyone have any experience with it? Any good?
This is such a screaming PITA - my 99 9-3 is currently suffering the same fate and awaiting a service visit- thus the 83T was my go-to car last week, until this nonsense reared its head. *sigh*
