Fuel supply problem when tank's low

Our '86 900s has been having a few fuel issues of late. 1st time it was a cracked vacuum line at the pressure regulator (thanks for the advice-easy fix). Now it's not getting enough delivery under higher throttle levels, but only when the tank's low. Which seems kinda odd to me. Is the pump intake somewhat clogged? Is the pump just tired? Some pressure differentialtion inside the tank? Any other ideas? Tests to run? S'pose I'll just be sure keep it filled up for the short run... Thanks-G
