CV rear external body panel removal

My 94CE has a little crunch - can't blame anyone but me. I back into a concrete barrier and buckled the right rear panel over the wheel well. Note to self - DO NOT drive after eyes get dialated!
So... fixing this is too costly (est $1400) and too difficult for my body work skills. An option is to pull a old panel and replace mine and paint.
Anyone tackled this? Does it involve roof take down? Right side - so I has the filler to contend with.
TIA- Steve
