Can't imagine it would be much different than my '86. I've replaced the switch in mine three times now ( first two times were shortlived aftermarket switches - hopefully the genuine SAAB switch I installed this last time will last longer). It's a DIY job... some have said they can do it without removing the lower dash pad but I find it much easier with the pad removed. This entails removing the center consol and ash tray as well. Also, removing the driver's seat from the car helps a lot, giving you more room to work.
