Help! Poor gas mileage.... NGK IRIDIUM Plugs?? Posted by SaabDude [Email] (#370) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabDude) on Sun, 21 May 2006 19:18:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello all. I have an 87 900T Conv. w/ the newer 2.1 cyl head conversion.
I've only had the car a couple months now, and I've been getting consistantly, 19 MPG. That's right, 19. What gives?
Background: I've done a tune up. (Bosch cap & rotor, Bougicord wires, NGK Plugs, cold air induction w/ K&N style cone filter, new Fuel filter.) Also have a 3.0 bar FPR. The plugs in the car when I rcvd it were BCP5es, gapped to about .034 The new plugs I put in were BCP7es gapped at .028, now at.032)
It also appears that the APC solenoid has been removed and replaced with some sort of manual adjustment knob/gauge. I've cleaned all intake piping, and also the AIC (lots of crud came out). I've tested the AIC as per Bentley, and it's withing tolerance.
The car has TONS of power and Boost (1/4-1/2 into the red).
Via the VSCNA, I've heard our Stroker bretheren getting great results with the NGK Iridium plugs... Anybody tried the NGK BCPR5EIX Iridium plugs.
Any suggestions on Plugs / Gas mileage??
Thanks, SaabDude Szostkiewicz (mostly a V4 guy... now venturing into 16Valve land....)
