Diagnosing my stiff steering. Removed the intermediate shaft with the UJs to see it that was the problem. Feels like new so I guess its the Rack.
I wasn't thinking and let the wheel spin when I undid the shaft. Now I have no idea of the clock spring centering!! I is there a trick to centering this?
I guess to get at it you have to pull the airbag by removing the torx screws behind the wheel? Obviously I do have the battery disconnected! Seems like there will not be a fault code if I just pop it off and put it back on?
Looks like I have a sticky rack. I did pop the tie rod shafts and the wheels are fine.
The PS line fittings to the rack are *horrible* to get to ... is it better to loosen the rack, and try and get at it that way .. or cut a spanner .. are they both 18 MM?
Do I need O rings?
So far this job doesnt seem too bad .. its a lo miles Calif car so everything is pretty clean!
