I test drove an SPG today, and now I understand the fanatic following. But I have some concerns about this car. I've read that any rust near the rear trailing arm mounts means that I should stop looking at this car and move on. Where are the rear trailing arm mounts? Are they the two U shaped channels under the rear seat, running lengthwise, one on each side? The current owner showed me the only rust he was aware of - under the rear seat, it looked like just the beginnings of some surface rust scattered around the floor pan, including these two channels. The pan itself felt solid everywhere I knocked, even in the rustiest spots. There was also a spot in the trunk, near the driver's side wheelwell. That looked like it might be beyond surface rust. Is this a sign to keep looking, or could this car still be saved with some tlc and por-15 (or the like)? I'm having a mechanic take a look at it, regardless.
