OTOH, the K&N and Amsoil filters do seem to have little restriction.
I can't see much hp difference.
Especially on the 900T's where the real restriction is the seven turns from the intake horn (and that too seems small) to the AMM.
Further, regarding pressure drop...I used a FilterMinder on the 900T and somewhere around 4K rpm and WOT the filterminder pegged...indicative of clogged filter. That's 10" of water plus drop. Noticeable hp loss...and the FilterMinder did this without ANY element in the canister.
On a volvo 740T the FilterMinder also showed restriction, roughly a half-dirty filter when running over 4500 rpm. The amsoil filter showed no restriction and the volvo airbox showed no restriction without an element in it, unlike the saab.
Long story short, it doesn't matter what element you put in your 900T OEM box so you might as well use a good OEM paper one. (don't get it wet!)
