Since it used to start when you pulled the fuel pump fuse, that points to a flooded condition. Check for fuel in the vacuum line for the FPR. Ruptured diaphragm in the FPR puts fuel in that vacuum line which goes into intake manifold, flooding it.
If that's it, you should try new spark plugs. I've had a problem where the car still wouldn't start after I fixed the flooding problem. I took the plugs out & dried them off (they weren't very old) but they still didn't work. I was too stubborn (cheap) to use new plugs.
When I finally tried NEW plugs it started right up.
Another thing to try... Disconnect the battery for awhile. That resets the ECU because it has been trying to adapt or compensate for the very rich condition. I used to have an '89 non-turbo & I had to do that a couple times after having similar problems.
