Sounds like a short. Pull the fuse for the central locking and try the key then; you should be able to manually lock the door. Otherwise, something is binding or the motor is stuck on, which should never happen because the central locking CU only fires it for a second or so. I thought the central locking motor was shorted on in my car (passenger door) but it turned out to be a gunked up lock/latch mechanism. After sixteen years or so, whatever used to be grease at the factory turns to a gunky, goopy, mechanism-binding sludge, especially in cold weather.
Remove the mechanism, remove what grease you can with a rag, blast it with brake parts cleaner or another suitable solvent, allow ALL of the solvent to evaporate, and re-lubricate with silicone-based lubes and low-temperature-suitable grease.
