If you hold the pedal down and it gradually engages then a seal is bad in the master or the slave. If its the slave you'll see fluid leaking from the botton of the clutch housing. Thats what happened on my '93 at 35K miles! I guess it could be air or a leak in the line but I doubt it.
The tranny is fragile and a poor clutch will eat up the gears and synchros so fix it right away!
Obviously if you do the slave throw in a clutch kit too! On mine the flywheel was perfect so I didn't bother resurfacing it. The clutch job rates a moderate on the difficulty scale. Don't even get me started on steering rack R and R!
On "conventional" clutches lime my old BMW M6 practice was to ALWAYS change the slave and master together as the usually went close to each other and two tows = lost customer.
Seals are probably 14 years old so you have to expect this kind of thing!
Some people that DIY it on here, try putting new seals in but thats way too much trouble and risk for me .. and any dealer/indys I suspect.
If a seal fails you are stuck somewhere potentially at night in the rain with and expensive tow home!
