Had something similar happen to me on my old 89 SPG. It only happened 2 or three times over the period of 2 days, but the sudden violent jerk to the right was my CV joint starting to go. Ended up loosing all of the bearing on the highway ~70 mph. The boot was ripped wide open. So double check that all of you boots are in one piece. I was in a bind, so the closest shop put in a rebuilt axle for me. Best of luck and be very careful if you need to drive it. Enjoy the car.
