Good brakes / front motor mount question. Posted by Camm [Email] (#191) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Camm) on Mon, 16 Oct 2006 08:14:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This weekend, I rebuilt the front calipers with the Scantech rebuild kit, adjusted the e-brake and reinstalled the calipers on my 83 900T. What a difference, the car stops on a dime, the parking brake holds the car tight, and releases as it should with no dragging - so nice! This is the third different different set of calipers I have rebuilt with that kit, and all have been money; so long as your calipers aren't totally busted, I recommend the kit. After getting that done, I decided to put in the new front motor mount I had kicking around. After undoing the bolt that goes through the center of it, and undoing the bolt that holds the top of the "strap" I faced the task of trying to undo the bottom bolt. After messing around for a half hour, I gave up and just unbolted and removed the front of the tranny case and did it that way. Is there a trick way to undo the bottom bolt wihout doing what I did? I thought about replacing the bolt with a hex cap screw so I could undo it straight on, with an allen wrench in the future, but I figure that I won't be doing that job again for a looong time, if ever.
