what is wrong with it? If you have checked the electrical connections + ground, and it still won't run, you will need to remove it from the cluster, and that requires removing the cluster, then removing the tach + clock, at least one connection has to be unsoldered. You can replace the tach + clock with a working one (junkyard or parts car), but the risk is that you are putting in a 10+ yr old clock that might not work for very long. There are detailed directions for repairing the clock on one of the mercedes-benz discussion lists (I guess they use the same vdo clock), it is actually pretty simple and involves replacing two electrolytic capacitors (Radioshack p/n 272-1028, costs less than $5). I did this repair on my '87 clock that had'nt been working for 2 or 3 years, and it fixed it...
Another possibility is to go to one of the speedometer repair shops (search online), they may be willing to attempt a repair, but expect to pay $$$...
