Distributor wire orientation? Bentely vs reality?

1985 900t sedan. While trouble shooting an idle issue I noticed something that scared me.
If you look in Bently 16 valve, pg. 110-10 and 340-5 you will notice that #1 plug wire goes into the distributor near the 4-o-clock position. Now my #1 plug wire goes into the dizzy near 10-o-clock position.
Before I go 'testing' where does the #1 plug wire go into the dizzy at? I am running a modded can, 20deg at idle with 10deg at boost. With a good quality light on my #1 wire that is the advance I get.....
Help?
