The foam expands under the vinyl as the vinyl weakens and shrinks with age thus causing the cracks. Drilling holes in vinyl isn't going to stop the progress....metal yes, vinyl no...ludicrous to blame your 14 year old dash cracking on armoral...if it was put on every year for 14 years and covered you may not have them. re-skinning might be the best DIY option. step 1 remove the dash step 2 repair the cracks with a flexible filler and level repairs with rest of surface step 3 with headliner adhesive, glue a thin vinyl skin carefully onto the surface and trim edges to fit....then re-install. Worth a try? perhaps...
