It drops down thru the lock cylinder and into a void below the shifter. There are some big openings right below where the rocking tongue that links to the key-in signal sits, and the steel bottom cover plate has open rear corners that would drain water away and down. The linkage to the ignition switch is by open gears, a distance up and forward; water doesn't travel uphill well, especially in open spaces. Then the ignition switch itself is inverted - - shaft hooked to gear runs UP into the switch, and the contacts part of the switch is at the top of everything, right below the push-ons you can see when you have the console apart.
So even electrolyte would drain away out of harm's way.
And the compressed air blows the traces out of the lock and away.
