a similar incident happened to me Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Sat, 19 May 2007 12:18:57 In Reply to: Looking for Suggestions, GaryJ, Sat, 19 May 2007 11:35:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
the motor stumbled (dropped on three cylinders) cloud of unburnt fuel puking out the tail pipe, when i hit the gas the rpms came back up and drove normal, so i pulled into a parking lot and just sat for a bit, must of waited around 8 minutes with ac running then the car went into a stumble, all the while i was waiting the rpm gauge was fluctuating (up to 1000, down to 600 up and down in arithmetic rhythm.
after the car when into the stumble i jumped out with the hood popped and started to mess with every wire, it was when i came across the aic wire when i hit it the stumbling stopped, however
thinking i only had this small window before the idle would return back to normal
with the left hand i checked the aic, with the right i was checking the amm, after the idle returned to normal with the motor running i pulled the plug for the aic and cleaned it out, plugged it back in and proceeded to check out the amm, when i pulled the plug with the motor running the motor proceeded to fall into the same stumbling as before (same as a motor running on three cylinders) at this time my motor was at operating temp.)
anyhow i cleaned out the plug connector and plugged it back in and imeditaly the motor returned to normal idle.
i when into the cab where all morning i had a fluctuating rpm tac.
after this episode the rpm is dead normal, no flux what so ever.
i really think it was the amm, that was the prime suspect here however i was messing with the aic at the same time so i really cant say im 100% sure.
clean the plug connector with carb cleaner that runs to your amm,
and then plug it back in. that should take care of it.
