intermittent hesitation, usually when warm and uphill

I have an unusual problem in my '88 Turbo (manual) that first cropped up last fall and has returned after several months absence. I first noticed this problem while driving cross country in early October during rather warm days. Especially when driving uphill, though not always, my car kind of sputtered like I was about to run out of gas or like gas wasn't reaching the cylinders. The car did not stall, just momentarily lost power even if accelerator pushed to floor. Changing the spark plugs and several bottles of fuel injector cleaner enabled me to go across country with this being only an occasional annoyance. Also noticed a little wire going to distributor had broken (taped it up for the drive and soldered when I arrived).
Drove the car every day during winter and never had the problem. Now that warm temperatures have returned, I am noticing this problem again on my way home from work (never in the morning and normally towards the end of my 1/2 hour commute). The problem is occasional, brief in nature, and usually when driving uphill. Spark plugs were changed about a month ago (NGK). Any suggestions? spark plug cables maybe? fuel pump? distributor?
