Given that the Northeast is prown to rust, and the Great Lakes area is too, and that the largest concentrations of Saabs seems to be (and not in any order), the North East, Denver Area, Chicago Area, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles area, Atlanta, and Florida.... (sure someone will say what about me... but I think this covers most of it) I think you will do best opening up your search to the non rust belt areas above, and quickly too. Even in Southern California I see cars from the rust area in the Pick Your Parts, *and* more disappointing also see California cars that have been in an accident or have had a mechanical issue (that I bet owner was convinced too expensive to fix...) and pushed out to pasture too. We just purchased a 1991 900s na 3 door 5 speed that was in Nashua for a couple of years before it went west. Boy, you can REALLY see the difference under the hood! I knew about this but it's still surprising to see the bolts and clips and hose clamps and aluminum bits that have rust or aluminum oxidation on them, and comparing them to e real So Cal car with said items look new... New tires, runs well, needed headlights, door pull, cooling fan, ABS accumulator, factory keys (after market keys twisted as per usual), air filter, oil change, WD-40 and adjustments, and a trip to the car wash to clean the engine bay. has aftermarket radio with CD player. Not bad for $800 cash.

Buy something from a non rust area, California, Florida, Denver, Portland, or any other one you know of, but do it soon. If you find something in SoCal I'll be happy to take a look at it for you. I visited four cars three days ago. This was the best of the bunch for a buy and drive, a convertible would have been good as a project but the money wasn't right. the other two needed 2 more gallons of gasoline and a couple of matches... LOL
