I live five miles from his old shop. I stopped in every time I go to VT to buy gas (cheaper than NY). He wasn't answering calls because he was up to his eyeballs with to-do's before he left for Texas. He actually had a couch in his shop where he would take catnaps (a-la Edison) while he was puting in his string of 24 hour days. He had fourteen cars to complete in a month. One was a full restoration job an an SPG. He still has a rental warehouse full of parts in Bennington. He kept his best and most valuable stuff, tossed or sold off the rest. His collection of finer cars were shipped to Texas. All the parts cars in his yard were sold. I've still got a list of parts he owes me for the '93 Comm Ed I purchased. He will get back to me once he gets settled in Texas. He assured me that the parts he will get off Texas cars will be much better. I've got his contact info but I wouldn't share it without checking with him first.
I'm definitely going to miss haveing him so close by. he was a real character, a great indy, a Saab fanatic, and truely a nice guy.
