Hey there everyone! :) Great to see old names still here (just missed DougM in the chat room who had the hide to go to bed early. It was only midnight Doug! ;) )Its been a long time between drinks for sure. Still have the 85 Aero and 80 Enduro.
I just uncovered the aero today for the first time in at least 4 years. It was full of dust and cobwebs. I went out and bought a new battery for it and tried to crank it over. No go. At least the oil got a chance to circulate first without it firing. Checked the fuel rail - bone dry. Raced down to the local juice shop and bought a jerry-full. Poured it in - and full of hope tried again. No go.
Did the old jumper trick at the relay box and heard the pump run - and the fuel rail fill. "bubble..bubble...." Tried to fire it up again - no go.
Removed a spark plug and grounded the shell - turned it over with no spark at all showing. Dang.
Took a shot in the dark and removed the distributor hall sensor plug and found green terminals inside. Hmmm... emery paper and some CIC to clean them up a bit.
Turned it over and it fired immediately. How good is that after years of neglect? I took it around the block a few times and after the lifters re-filled it fanged it a bit. It's still smoking the two fronts on demand. Unbelievable. I thought I'd run a full check on the rest of it - like brakes (!!) before I re-register it and put it back on the road. The only silly things still wrong with it are the front right CV and the steering pump. I might even disconnect the PS altogether - it was great without it.
I love my Saabs again! :) :)
Time to getthe Enduro out from under the pile of boxes, rags, tools and other stuff and get it going too.
Anyways - it's great to be back!
Cheers
