slow starting is a clear case of a drained battery / charging problems, there are a few things to look for,
pop the hood and do a visual check of the alternator, look for a small wire that has a female end of a butt connector thats plugged into the male ended butt connector that is attached to the alternator.
this small 24 gauge wire is the ground wire that gives so many problems, the 24 gauge can become hardened or simply sheer off at the crimps leaving the wire look as if its fine. ( which happened in my case )
go on and disconnect the wire from the alt. and inspect it notice when unplugging the wire how good the connection is between the to.
if the connection where the butt connectors meet is loose this can be your problem, get a pliers or something to smush the female end a little then reconnect it to the alt.
now head over to the battery and clean the posts with a wire brush or a post cleaner, i know you said the batt. was new, but i to had this idea that it could not be my battery, just so happens i pulled into a gas station to fill up and after wards i could not restart the car, after 10 min. i found the problem, there was so much corrosion in between positive post and cable that restricted the power from starting the car. battery was 2 months old.
the corrosion can work both ways, keep the car from starting and keep the battery from charging.
lets move on to the next spot....
after cleaning or checking under the positive batt. cable leave the cable undone, head over to the starter. there is a huge cluster of wires that run to one post of the starter. this major junction of wires can not be loose, with your hand try to wiggle a wire,.. any one will do, looking to see if they can possibly shuffle around, this connection plagued my car for months, i ended up carrying a battery booster with me to start my car.
it all came down to this connection. if the wires are loose tighten them.
make sure to take a little bit of care, the post that runs into the starter can snap or become loose, how this happens i dont know, never rebuilt a starter, im just letting you know, I cranked on the nut at the connection with out using a open end wrench on the inner nut and.. well
broke something in the starter now the post flops around.
but in any-case this connection needs to be looked at.
while at the cluster inspect the one 16 gauge wire running from alt. to starter. this one wire transports all the juice for your car and the junction at the starter splits it off.
if this 12 gauge wire has signs of burning or brown on the outer sheath the wire is faulty and needs to be replaced.
this should cover the multitude of problems in charging.
i have not forgot about the regulator inside the alt.
if this was at fault the batt. light in the car would illuminate.
all the other suggestions i gave that should be looked at would not illuminate the batt. light
seems im done typing..
have a good day
