I have owned this one for about 6 months and fixed a lot of neglected maintenence. It has always been hard starting, even thru the warm months. Have to crank it for 8 - 10 seconds about 2 or 3 times before it will fire up. Then it runs great, best running Saab I have owned. Warm starts, no problem. I do have an 8V Bentley manual and have checked a lot of stuff with that. But I am baffled at this point, and would appreciate any 8V advice. Here's what I have checked out so far.
New cap, rotor, NGK's, and good plug wires
Fuel PSI checked out per Bentley
Replaced bad warm up regulator with known good one
Cold start injector sprays while cranking
All 4 injectors spray a decent pattern
Cleaned throttle body and air flow plate
Ran Techron thru tank
Vacuum lines all ok, pulls strong vacuum when running
I am starting to suspect possible ignition problems at this point as I have checked most of the fuel system. Or is this just the way these older turbos crank? My 84 always started on the first crank, without fail. Thanks in advance for any advice.
