What's the tenth digit of your VIN? In '93 the S became the base car with the 900 eliminated. Do you have Saab emblems above the side turn indicators?
Base 900s didn't have cruise. The speed sensor indeed is fed into the LH computer, but if it doesn't work, it will not turn on the CEL. You could concievably wire in everything, but IMO it would be an unjustified pain in the butt. All the firewall connectors' locations are different, you'd have to swap out to a newer speedometer, dot dot dot.
It would be a heck of a lot easier to find a '92 or later S/turbo in the junkyard, get the pickup sensor, wiring, turn signal stalk (probably won't latch on for right turns), vacuum pump, pedal switches, vacuum tees and lines, and throttle pedal actuating diaphragm.
