i was inspired by vvack's spray job, (long) Posted by nicknick [Email] (#731) [Profile/Gallery] (more from nicknick) on Fri, 14 Dec 2007 16:31:04 In Reply to: jeez, now you got me thinking about it..., CBS [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 14 Dec 2007 14:40:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
but don't have the patience to do what he did to the bumpers-that was just amazing! i had the tools, the warm shop (doorway to livingroom), good light and the passion to get it done. actually, that may have been the fear of failure... i am anxious to see how the bondo job really comes out-nothing like some shiny paint to show the flaws...ah well, too late to start worrying now. i really think i did the best i could do, however imperfect that is..
what was interesting was how quickly the car came to pieces. small cordless drill with set of torx bits, and it almost falls apart! int door panel-45seconds,tail lights-1 minute each... the door locks can be a little tricky-levering the clip off, and i know those are going to put up a fight on re-assembly. even the window trim on the doors just comes off with out any tools. sunroof panel-30 seconds flat.
which brings me to my next project...
take the 92t off the road-it has had one heck of a life-lots of bad bondo, bad paint, east coast till last year, so a fair bit of rust, 240,000 miles... been beaten round brooklyn for 4 years-it's a miracle that thing is still on the road at all...
so, i did the headliner this summer-that can go in the spg.
the motor was from scanwest last year, and the 5 speed went in 3 years ago, still perfect-entire lump gets dropped straight in the white 93cvt (currently auto).
zimmermans on the front go to the spg.
seatbelts go to spg(currently has passive belts)
anyway, i'll be left with spares for most things, and fond memories....
so, ordered a few cans of sem bumper paint for the new spg kit that will be here next week, and need to order some of that leatherique(?) stuff for the rear headrests (taupe currently, to go buffalo for spg)and i'm good to go! can't wait..
Thanks for listening-how much do i owe you for this therapy????
