turned out to be worn out bushings on the torsion bars. These were fairly easy to replace and appeared to solve the problem. But, now that I've been in there, I was thinking, why not just replace all of the rear bushings so I won't have to worry about them for another 20 years? The axle/spring link ones look bad (surface cracking), but they are pretty massive--- so, no, I don't really know if they are shot...
I like the idea of a 3-arm puller, though. Is there enough room to get one in there, or would you have to remove the coil spring and actually drop the link?
