This is very normal. This happens because of the air being "denser" the colder it gets. The inter-cooler was added to help with creating denser air due to the turbo-charger super heating the compressed turbo air. This theory is so true due to the fact that when I would windsurf in the middle of winter, the air seemed to have much more UPHM!in the sai-ls. Too bad they don't have inter-cooler for sails. And to think I almost brought a used Volvo sedan with a NON-WATER cooled turbo WITHOUT an intercooler. Man! was this cars engine COOKED! I knwo my 9000 turbo has a larger inter-cooler than the 900 model. I've seen the 9000 inter-cooler adapated to the 900. See if you can fit a block of ice between the intake side of inter-cooler, the next time you want to win the race.
