Despite getting a late start, and over an hour to go a few blocks to the Holland Tunnel, a stunningly drunk driver at 4am that caused a back-up of vover a dozen cars driving 45mph for at least 45 minutes and eventually crossing from WV into KY and having to take a cat nap I made it to my hometown in decent time.
All day sunday I could not get the car to make the noise. My motorcycle mnechanic friend gave it a once over look and suggested that the car had been sitting a while (battery a little sluggish on start-up, low tires....) and the belt had maybe tried to retain its previous shape from sitting, but after being driven a while had become more malleable again and voila, no problem.
However, now that I am down south I have heard it again a time or 2. Today after going to the DMV I think I'll run by Nordic Motor WErks here in louisville and see if the dude can take a look at it. I have found him to be more competent and thorough than anyone in NYC.
I managed to get towed already in Brooklyn and when I gopt the car back my bumper was messed up. big spiderwebbed bit on one side and the underneath of it a little raggedy now. It was painted over anyway, so bound to get easily messed up. I guess I can't be too precious about a bumper in NYC.
Anyway, I'm hopiong to get everything looked over todaya nd then I'll be headed back tomorrow.
Thanks for all your advice!!!
xoxo,
amelia
