ok, for the terminally impossible to bleed clutch- Posted by nicknick [Email] (#731) [Profile/Gallery] (more from nicknick) on Wed, 9 Apr 2008 09:28:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
here's what i did.
1st, this is a master/line/slave combo from a known good parts car. kept the line on the slave, but stupidly disconnected it from master (won't do that again!)
after installing, went on to bleed. no luck. even the 200 pumps of the pedal had no effect.
bought a mityvac. thats going in the trash, piece of chinese junk that has no place in my shop. however, used one of the pieces of hose to hook up a 4' high pressure system with a gear oil bottle at the top (with break fluid in, obviously). tried several different methods-slow pedal, fast pedal, nothing.
starting to get a little bored of this (did i mention i had even left it overnight?), tried blowing into res, nothing.
finally, found a res cap off parts car, drilled oped the vent hole a little, and shot a light blast of shop air through there with bleeder still attached to 4' gravity system-presto! clutch is good!
man, thing took me longer to bleed than installing the entire lump, but now it is done...
ok, back to rest of 5 speed conversion/install (maybe 2 hours to go?)
just thought i would share, to save anyone else from potentially throwing in the towel!
