Replacement reverse gear question

I am rebuilding my 1988 Saab 900 5 speed. I am still in the process of gathering up the rest of the parts I need and checking specifications before I reassemble it. I bought a used reverse gear for my tranny off of Ebay. Mine had a couple of badly chipped teeth. The replacement is in excellent condition and it is supposed to fit any '81 - '88 transmission. It looks like the right gear however the place where the stack height shims ride has a wider diameter then my old gear. The replacement gear matches the diameter of the shims better. I know they had different production runs on these however I assume the specifications that matter are the same. I am concerned with getting the stack height measurement correct as this is very important and a very small range of tolerances in this transmission. Should I assume this replacement gear specs are OK. Any master rebuilers there seen slight difference in production runs of reverse gears that don't really matter? I do not want to be overly concerned I think the gear is fine. However I want to get it right as it is a lot of trouble and expense to pull an engine and transmission. I want it do it right the first time.
