I haven't had these Saab calipers apart but usually the chrome plating on brake pistons is incredibly heavy and corrosion resistant. They can get corrosion deposits adhering to the surface of the chrome, which seem permanent but can be scraped off with like a dull knife blade or something.
Though you're plainly pretty observant and careful, and rust deposits on the surface of chrome don't really look like rusty pits down into the piston body.
Is silicone grease the proper lube for brake parts? I know it seems very rubber kind but it's not compatible with brake fluid. Could that be part of your leak trouble?
I know they sell brake assembly lube at NAPA etc. I've always used rubbing alcohol to clean brake pieces, and brake fluid to lube things on assembly.
