My 1985 900 8Valve is running hot Posted by Rob [Email] (#1828) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Rob) on Sat, 28 Jun 2008 17:34:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The temps have risen more than I can explain by the weather (in the 90s w high humidity). The car is suddenly running with temps about 3/4 the way up the gauge. I put on all new hoses and a new thermoswitch; I reinstalled the thermostat after gutting it so I know THAT is not hte problem. The water flowed out of the radiator well; I put my garden hose into the upper radiator hose with a stream of water the size of an average forefinger, nothing backed up at all (it flowed out the bottom raditor hose fitting very nicely). The water pump is not making any noises or leaking any water. I am pretty darn stumped (not the words I am actually useing). Also - very odd - after I changed the hoses the car has become pretty difficult to start, it takes 3 or 4 tries to get it to run at all, and it need a fair amount of legwork on the accelerator to keep it running. It ran FINE before the hoses although it was running hot, as noted. All suggestions appreciated - I am about out of ideas.
