I (think) I got a great deal on fleabay with a new set of Hellas for $75.00. Using OEM parts, I just had to swap parts. No electrical changes.
My car failed inspection because of a chip in one headlight. Rather than fight city hall, I just went to replace, and lucked out.
If you go this route, there is no electrical change. Unplug the wires. Unscrew the assembly. Pop off the old headlights. Put it back together. You will most likely need new plastic adapters called "Bearing Clamp Sleeves" to mount the headlights. 6 needed, available at Eeuro. $4.50 each.
While I was unhappy about the failed inspection, the new headlights really made the car look better. The lighting with new headlights made a great improvement...enough so I don't feel I need e-codes.
