**(LONG post)**

just picked up a "beater" '88 SPG...466k miles on body (maybe pass side accident? little welding..some rust...but really great shape for that kinda mileage. and ~140+k on '89 engine. engine fans turn on and thing doesnt overheat sitting or driving hard in 95degree weather tests that i did. all electrical seems good so far...central locking system and sunroof etc all ok...no a/c.

been doing mad searches on here but still have questions...sorry if anything has been discussed to death in another thread (throw me the link if ya know it)...also-still waiting for my bentley manual in the mail (today i hope).

just got some aero (polished lip) rims with half used 205/50 rubber...are they definitely going to rub? some people have no problems and some seem to. what solutions do i have if they do? i will be getting all season tires come fall most likely...should i get a different size as a solution??

getting a used set of e-codes. by no means an electrical genius. what extra pieces/wires/etc will i need? is there a DIY photo installation guide for these anywhere? daniel stern's email doesnt seem to be working as i keep getting message failed responses...!!?? (used the two emails listed on site)

has anyone tried the NGK iridium plugs? i ordered a set of regular "oem" plugs and the bozo's sent me these...they "seem" better made but will my saab like them more?? do i need to gap them differently? there are some fairly new champion brand plugs in there currently that need to come out asap.

changed the oil..previous owner never used synthetic and i dont see any reason to change in such an old car...i used 10w30 castrol gtx...since the change i now notice my idle dropping after initial startup for a good ten minutes and almost stalling and then rising to normal again. the plugs? vacuum hoses?

i seem to have a small oil leak. i have to get the car on a lift soon to really check it out. i cleaned most of the bottom end etc with brake cleaner and wiped down....i THINK the oil cooler hoses coming from the oil filter are where its coming from...? i want to change the oil filter anyhow. are those hoses often a problem? do i have to replace the entire hose or just the connections if thats where the issue is?

was going to change the transmission oil and just put some of the castrol gtx 10w30 in there...good idea? otherwise i think we have some lucas tranny oil at the shop...? the transmission seems decent but could be a lot smoother. also, the clutch pedal seems close to the floor...no problems engaging, and its not loose...could it be the pedal physically?

should i get some injector cleaner/additive next time i fill up? i hope to do a fuel filter change soon also.

a fellow saabnetter has some nice 9000 turbo front seats with the suede inserts in dark grey that i was thinking of using in the spg for at least my driver seat (which is ripped)...can i just remove the cover and foundation and put them on mine? the 9k has auto seats and i prefer the manual stock spg ones.

think that is it for the moment unless you guys think of anything. there are a bunch of other things on my list for the car but these seem to be priority.

thanks so much in advance.
