and that elongated ear may be the root of your problem. before you take things apart look at the alignment of the alternator in relation to the harmonic balancer. if the pivot point for the alternator is worn and allows the alternator to *not* be parallel (shaft to shaft) with the engine... the belts will wear on one side, they will wear faster one over the other... so get all of the mounting and pivot stuff renewed so that the pivot properly.
A quick check on if it is belt related (which the above is) is to get a can of WD-40 and spray on the belts WHILE THE ENGINE IS STOPPED. First do the power steering belt and do it at the pulley on the pump. start and listen for change. Then stop and do the AC belt if you have one, do it at the compressor. Check. Then do the twin alternator belts, again do it at the alternater pulley. Check. Then you can leave the engine running and spray to the harmonic balancer area getting all of the belts.
The reason for not starting at the HM is you want to isolate each belt to see if you can determine if it is a single belt that needs tightening.
