Straight in. Then TRY AGAIN with a deep well six point socket, even if the nut part is rounded. Six point has a pretty good chance of still working.
Then if that doesn't do it, get a 10" set of Vise Grips, the biggest ones, and lock them really tight onto the pin, and while holding them and getting ready to push towards unscrew, SMACK the pin again with a big hammer, while pushing on the visegrips just as the hammer comes down. The wake-up call of the shock waves vastly increases the chance it will loosen.
Both of the above much easier than cutting and drilling it out tho as pointed out that pin really does darn little and you can do without it. In fact when I have to wrestle a tire onto one of these cars I cuss it; things are far easier on cars with wheel studs and nuts.
