Yeah, they probably crashed it. I am guessing that there was no Saab lover or hater at work here per se, it was probably a car that the propmaster found that matched a price point he/she was trying to meet.
That being said, rent the excellent Showtime series, "Dead Like Me". There are different C900 convertibles in 4 episodes during its two year run. One may be a '94 Comm Ed., this I am saying because a) I consider myself an expert on Comm. Ed.s because I own one and b) as far as I could tell it was blackish-gray, had the correct wheels and I thought I could see black piping on the tan seats. The other convertibles I think were red and white respectively (with super aero wheels!!!). I am guessing the Exec. Producer of the series is a big fan of the C900.
Somewhere there is a website with a list of Saabs in movies. I just noticed for the first time (being I have not seen the movie in ~8-10 years) that Matthew McConagehy's (sp?) character in A Time to Kill drives a C900 convertible. The funny thing was is that they dubbed in the sound of the doors closing. The door noise in the movie sounded way to light and tinny for the HEAVY doors on that car.
whew.
