Rebuilt calipers (not sure if Centrics)on my 92 900 clunked/clanked over bumps and potholes but the sound went away if I rode the brakes slightly over said bumps/potholes. I concluded that the brake shoes were bouncing up and down in the carrier bracket until brake pressure was applied. Pulled the caliper and pads and put a nylon zip tie around the bottom end of the carrier bracket where the bottom ends of the brake pads sit. This took up any slack or mismatched tolerances between the carrier and pads and the sound went away. Zip tie did not melt from heat of the brakes and no adverse reactions were noted over the next 50,000 miles I had the car. Cheap and easy fix.
