Print out that pic of everything ready to go back in car, all cleaned up, and take it with you to the garage. And if mechanic is internet savvy, the link to the series of pics. Or print them all yourself for him.
If you do want to tackle it yourself so you can drive the car, the trick to getting the bolt out is to take out two of the three bracket-to-block bolts and loosen the other one, then tip the bracket as Jon's photo shows. There's then room for the bolt to slide out, alternator to work up and out, final bolt to come out and bracket off car, then you can get the bushings back in yourself. Way to do it is with a shorter bolt and big washers and a nut, tighten nut and bolt will pull bushing into bracket.
Are you a member of AAA? Tows are free within 5 miles of garage, if car is stuck on roadside. Fairly reasonable fee per mile beyond that. Almost worth joining for just one tow.
