Hey.
Up here in PDX recently we had quite the snow storm. During which I valiantly drove my 89 SPG around in. Long story short, however, I ended up FUBARing my tranny getting unstuck in the sidestreets so often. The rest of the car is not nice enough to consider a trans rebuild. So I have a couple of immediate options for replacement, which I humbly ask for an outside opinion on:
1. !991 900t - interior/body 8.5/10. 57,000 miles. Blown tranny. Can be mine for about $1200 + rebuild. Suspicious of circumstances around miles and tranny death.
2. 1990 900t - interior/body 9.5/10 190,000 miles. Blown tranny. Can be mine for rebuild cost. May also have ABS issues.
3. 2002 9-3. 60,000 miles. Can be mine for $3500-$4000(maybe less). Has engine sludge, however, and poor maintenance history. Engine still OK at this point...otherwise nice.
4. 1993 Saab 9000 Aero. 190,000 miles. Meticulous owner and records. Can be mine for $1500 or less. Beautiful cosmetic shape. Obviously have to consider the known TCS issues and the (relative) shortage of some parts for that model year.
5. Save for a more expensive used Saab, and run the risk that that one will break (as a previous 9-5 aero owner, I know the risk).
What say you knowledgeable folk? Why?
BTW, I am meanwhile still driving around my other saab (85SPG), which while not meant to be my daily driver, is in great shape - so I have some time.
